Anesthesia Secrets:
This is a pretty decent review book for some of the most common things you will see on Anesthesia rotations. It's not meant to be a reference book, so it's tough to find specific topics sometimes. It gives you a pretty good overview of different areas in anesthesia. I think it's a much better book then blueprints, but it's a lot more detailed so it takes a while to read the whole book.
need-to-know facts:
compact and succinct without extraneous verbage. not much explanation of concepts will be found here, just the facts and pearls of this science. great for board exam preparation!
Best in OR reading I have found:
This is the best in OR reading I have found. I simply cannot focus on a large text or journal articles during a case. I enjoy reading the one paragraph Q&A style. I feel I extract a learning point per question without ignoring my surroundings. Yes, many of the concepts are simple and fit for medical students. But there are numerous, numerous sections that delve into more advanced concepts that are worth reviewing routinely. Secrets 3E:
I just received this book and I recommend it even if you aren't interested in anesthesia, it references quite a bit to physiology and pharmacology which for me since step I is long forgotten.. so it is a nice refresher and sure to cover easily a few questions that won't just show up on rounds but on the boards..
