I used Kaplans Step 2 Qbook throughout MS-3. I would highly recommend this to any other MS-3 as a great resource to study for individual shelf exams from IM to surg. It was great to only buy one (inexpensive) question book for all of third year. I have not yet taken step 2 so cannot discuss how it prepares you for that test.
The questions are slightly easier than pre-test. The answer and explanation section is complete and better organized than most question books. In summary, if you like question... more info
Depends what you use it for:
i dunno how this book prepares you for step 2ck since i haven't taken it yet, but it doesn't do that great of a job for shelf exams. i find that the questions in this are much easier than the ones in the NBME shelf - they're shorter, give more obvious hints, more answer choices can be ruled out, and NONE of the questions ask you to interpret images. i also don't like how the book is so lopsided. 400 of the questions are in the internal medicine section and others like ob/gyn, psych, and surgery only get 100... more info
