Ever since Barack Obama was young, Hope has lived inside him. From the beaches of Hawaii to the streets of Chicago, from the jungles of Indonesia to the plains of Kenya, he has held on to Hope. Even as a boy, Barack knew he wasn't quite like anybody else, but through his journeys he found the ability to listen to Hope and become what he was meant to be: a bridge to bring people together.
This is the moving story of an exceptional man, as told by Nikki Grimes and illustrated by Bryan Collier, both winners of the Coretta Scott King Award. Barack Obama has motivated Americans to believe with him, to believe that every one of us has the power to change ourselves and change our world.

A Book No Child Should Be Allowed Or Encouraged To Read - Indoctrination Garbage:

She actually defended the Mao statement - Van Jones, former Green Jobs Czar, who claimed he became a Marxist while in prison. Was ousted only after signing petitions claiming Bush Administration carried out 9/11 - Cass Sunstein the Regulator Czar who questioned the... more info
Not Surprised:
Another propaganda book full of lies. Obama was raised Muslim in Indonesia for starters. He was an Indonesian citizen(they do not allow duel citizenship there and he had to become one in order to be enrolled in school). This book sickens me deeply, and what is worse is that is is targeted at children and has a teacher's study guide to go with it. This kind of stuff belongs absolutely no place near our schools.
Copyright:
I am wondering if Nikki Grimes violated the Obama's copyright of Dreams From My Father in writing this book. Does anyone know if she had permission to use information from Dreams From My Father? Please answer me at phyllisandrews@comcast.net.

This empathetic look at Barack Obama's childhood engages all readers. It is beautifully illustrated and offers insight into the emotions of a future leader and connects the reader to similar circumstances. This is a must for many families.
