Valuable info in a 27 page booklet:
This book is only 27 pages long. It is more of a booklet than a book. However, it has great exercises (about 15 in all) with well-drawn illustrations and easy to understand text so there's no problem doing the excercises, and you can easily incorporate most of them into day-to-day living. There is valuable information for anyone dealing with low bone density. I learned quite a lot about which exercises are beneficial for a person with low bone density, and (even more importantly), which exercises could... more info
An excellent book for those with osteoporosis:
I was recently diagnosed with severe osteoporosis and learned the things I absolutely shouldn't do (like bend forward from the waist) during physical therapy, so I knew as soon as I looked through this book that it was safe for someone with my condition to use. I highly recommend this book, but would also say that you should have your doctor look it over and give approval. If you have osteoporosis, you should always check with your doctor before starting any exercise program.
easy to use:
A friend of mine recommended this book for my mother and I am so glad she did!
The illustrations are fabulous and the book is easy to follow. I did the exercises once with my mother and now she does them regularly! I am proud of her and thrilled that such a book can motivate her to take care of herself and exercise!
Great Patient Educational Tool:
Ms. Bissinger's book, Osteoporosis: An Exercise Guide is a elegantly simple guide to help prevent and treat osteoporosis.
As a physician working with patients at risk for osteoporosis, I have found the book to be a great educational tool. The exercises are easy to perform thanks to its concisely written and well-illustrated format.
In addition to a complete exercise program, Ms. Bissinger has included a section on posture and body mechanics. This section is an important complement to any exercise... more info
