New to this "syndrome", I have been thoroughly confused about what I can and cannot eat. This book gave a very good simple introduction on the usual "trigger' foods, and was upbeat enough to emphasize the things that a person CAN do with this affliction. The recipes are OK, but the real value, I thought, was in explaining the new way of living and eating that a person has to adapt to.
IC Information & Cookbook:
This book had information about how IC has affected the author which was helpful to me because I had just recently been diagnosed. There are many recipes which are tasty. She also has a nice selection of different ones to try. It helps to try the different foods and find out which ones are good for you.
Eat Interstitial Cystitis:
Doctor said I had Interstitial Cystitis in 2008. I was relieved to know my pain would be in controlled (after having this since 2007,) now that I knew what it was. Unfortunately the medication I was prescribed for; I can't afford ($800) bottle of mediation for a 3 month period that only had a 20% chance helping my discomfort. book isn't so helpful:
I was disappointed with this book. Much of the information is outdated, and the recipes just weren't that good. Way too many pre-packaged, store bought stuff which is difficult for IC patients to use. She also uses too many items that most IC patients can't eat. I was really looking for a cookbook with from scratch recipes using only ingredients that are generally considered IC-safe. But this isn't it--since you have to go through each recipe and modify it to take out ingredients, whats the point? I do that... more info
