Easy to read, low on jargon and authoritative, this is the reference work on mental health therapies that should be on the every therapist's bookshelf. Excellent book:
This book is wonderfully written, not dry as some texts are. It is interesting reading with helpful examples throughout. I would recommend this book for any psychologist, psychiatrist, therapist, or social worker who is either learning about the profession or reviewing what they have learned in the past. This is an excellent book.
Helpful for Treatment Planning:
Seligman does a wonderful job with taking disorders from major diagnostic categories and distinguishes them from each other in a systematic manner. Her book completely is in line with DSM-IV-TR guidelines and diagnostic criteria, as a matter of fact, her book is similar to the DSM-IV-TR, but in paragraph format and with a slant towards helping the practitioner effectively provide therapeutic care for the client/patient.
