I can't but help wonder why this book has not been consistently rated poorly. While hoplessly underexpanding on topics, it simultaneously presents the material in a slip-shod disorganized manner. I strongly recommend that one consider a different book, stat!
Medical Student Approved:
As a busy medical student, I am very protective of my time. Langman's Medical Embryology (LME) is indeed a long, and at times difficult read, but in my humble opinion it is well worth that time and effort, as it is the only way I found to understand the field to the extent I wanted to. Whether for a general anatomy class, or for specific organ systems (especially the cardiovascular block - VSD's, ASD's, etc.), embryology creeps up again and again. Great for learning and reference!:
I was given this book when I worked at a teratogen information service. As a pharmacist, we are given no formal embryology training. However, at the teratogen information service it was crucial to understand how teratogens exert their effects. However, some of the images are disturbing, so caution to the faint! I learned a lot from this book, and have purchased it for my reference. It also comes with a cd-rom which can further enhance learning.
