This superbly illustrated text familiarizes students with individual muscles and muscle systems and demonstrates basic clinical massage therapy techniques. More than 550 full-color illustrations of internal structures are embedded into photographs of live models to show each muscle or muscle group, surrounding structures, surface landmarks, and the therapist's hands. Students see clearly which muscle is being worked, where it is, where it is attached, how it can be accessed manually, what problems it can cause, and how treatment techniques are performed. This edition features improved illustrations of draping and includes palpation for each muscle. An accompanying Real Bodywork DVD includes video demonstrations of massage techniques from the book.

Interesting pictures but very basic:
This book was required for a class and I really enjoyed the visual 'description' it shows by overlaying the muscles and bones on the corresponding areas. I found some of the descriptions of origin, action and insertion a bit under developed. I really disliked the use of the child for modeling in the pictures, some of the pictures seemed a bit on the creepy side. The techniques employed/recommended for the muscles are very interesting and I have a few I am hoping to try out. Best thing about it, for me, was... more info
GREAT BOOK TO GET STARTED:
This book is great!!! Wanted to get a head start before I start a school. I been out of school for 15 yrs and never took anatomy so this book is sooo helpful with that and using different strokes. Great book for all massage therapist new and seasoned!!
Fantastic Visuals!:
Originally I bought this book for an Anatomy class I was taking specifically for massage therapy. The images clearly portray exactly where and how muscles look underneath the skin. It also goes into detail about every muscle in the body from origins to insertions, actions and movement and even application of massage methods. Great value!
Excellent illustrations:
I purchased this book after taking a basic massage class with my husband. The illustrations are excellent to help beginners pinpoint the exact spot for massage. I would recommend!
