If you're having sleep problems, buy this book!:
I was having horrible sleeping issues with my 8 month old daughter when I bought this. We were up almost every 1-2 hours at night and then waking at 5am. I was so frustrated and tired I could barely think straight!! I bought this book, and read through it as quick as I could - started implementing his ideas immediately. I was putting my baby down too late and rushing to her at night with her every wimper....Well i can tell you, it was difficult at first to not go to her at all. But it has paid off... more info
Good concepts, poor organization:
After reading this book I feel as though I understand the need for babies sleep and some of the science behind it. BUT, the book is poorly organized. The way it reads it seems that some of the suggestions are contradictory. Some of the wording feels as though pages were lifted out of medical journals and inserted into the book - I don't want to read the studies, I want someone to explain them to me in simple, easy terms. There is a section about letting your baby cry, but the book doesn't seem to recommend this. It just gives letting the baby cry as a... more info
Useful even for a 2 1/2 year old:
My 2 1/2 year old has been an odd sleeper almost since he was born. I tried various methods to get him to a more consistent sleep schedule, but nothing really worked. Finally I really, really read through this book. Now I understand better why he sleeps the way he does--and when to put him in bed for sleep. I also know what to do if he doesn't nap during the day. The book itself is long and difficult to get through, especially if *you* aren't getting enough sleep. But it is still well worth the effort.... more info
