very disappointing:
I was required to purchase this book for my small animal surgery course in vet school. I have tried to use it for 2 semesters now to supplement surgical lectures. The descriptions of the procedures are not well explained, leave out many steps (perhaps assuming too much knowledge / experience of the reader), and give me zero confidence that I could attempt a surgery using this as a reference. I really regret buying this book!
Small animal surgery:
I was looking for a decent surgery and anatomy textbook for a long time. This book more than fulfill this particular need. Thanx for great illustrations and simple explanations. It makes studying almost a pleasure for a change:)
Best surgery book:
This is the best surgery book on my shelf. I am very picture oriented, and the descriptions in this book are very well done.
Just OK:
I purchased this book since it was required for surgery coursed. At first glance you will think the book is great. The book is very large with lots of colorful illustrations. However once you begin reading procedures and referring to diagrams you learn that this book seems simplified. The illustrations that are supposed to describe procedures often are not adequately labeled. I found myself referring to my anatomy texts extensively. Also the descriptions of the procedures themselves are not always thorough.... more info
